This performance happened at the Queens Museum as part of Post-Midnight: Artists Respond to "After Midnight", the exhibition of modern and contemporary art from India.
I considered the performance to be a conversation between the artist, Subodh Gupta and I. His work, What does the vessel contain that the river does not? was the object of reflection.
My body as vessel -
holding like,
loaded like,
curved like
bottom of boat like
small of my back like
tight after holding.
Failing more and more
while
the other breathed easy.
I became loaded by the other
in order to become more
the other
asking to be a reflection of
time spent
holding
breaking
inside
to mo(o)r(e)
here.
